Mimi is possibly the biggest money-winning female player. She had exclusively played side games until I coerced her into playing tournaments. In her first fifteen events, she had two seconds, a third, a fourth, a tenth, and an eleventh place finish — all at the World Series of Poker.
Amusing anecdote
When I started teaching Mimi how to play poker, I would occasionally lend her $100 to play in the $3-$6 game. I told her we had to keep track of the money I gave her or else she might play badly under the assumption I would always give her more money with no consequences.
The most she ever owed me at that time was $600. When she became a higher stakes player we would often lend each other money. I was the first to owe $50,000. She said, “If one of us ever owes the other $100,000, we’ll quit keeping track and we’ll get married and play out of the same bankroll.” My expenses were much higher than hers and my spending habits were worse. Eventually, I owed her $95,000. The next day, I was losing and she asked if I needed any money. I told her I didn’t. She later found out that I had borrowed $5,000 from someone in the game and she almost beat me up.

Reason for this song choice
Mimi used to listen to American music without ever understanding the lyrics. This was the first song I explained to her, because it illustrated the mentoring part of our relationship. It became our song when we were going together.
